Bagirov Mir Jafar Abbas: 1921-December, 1930-August
Mir Jafar Bagirov was born on September 17, 1895 in the Guba city of the Baku Province of Azerbaijan. He finished four classes in Guba, and graduated from two-year pedagogical courses in Petrovsk, and was working as a rural teacher in 1915-1917. He occupied some leading positions during the first times of the February revolution in Russia in 1917. From 1918 to 1921 he held various leading political positions in Red Army, namely as regimental commander, military commissar of Azerbaijan division, instructor of Caucasus corps of Russian military district, chairman of Revolutionary tribunal and mobile sessions of Azerbaijan division. During the period of time from February 21st, 1921 till May 22nd, 1927 and from December 7th, 1929 till August 6th, 1930 he was chief of the security services of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1927-1929 he was chief of Transcaucasia Water Supply Department. In 1932, he became the chairman of People’s Commissariats Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR, and served as the first secretary of Central Committee of Azerbaijan Communist Party from 1933 till 1953. In 1953 he was appointed as the chairman of Council of Ministers by the bureau of the Central Committee of Azerbaijan Communist party. He served for short term in this office and was sent out of the republic on economic mission. In 1954, M.Bagirov was arrested and in 1956 he was sentenced to death by shooting by the military board of the Supreme Court of the USSR.
