 The volume “Azerbaijan” of National Encyclopedia of
Azerbaijan, chairman of which editorial board is the President of the Republic
of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, has been published in the Azerbaijani language, in
2007. This publication is totally devoted to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The past and the present of Azerbaijan, its old history and modern life,
national resources and geopolitical position, achievements in the field of
science, education and culture have been expressed in this book. Contemporary
period of the Azerbaijani history, started with the restoration of its state
independence created the necessity of publication of the new national
encyclopedia. Being prepared by the close participation of the rich academic
potential of Azerbaijan, current volume objectively reflects achievements of the
independent Azerbaijani statehood. Materials presented by the ministries,
committees and other state agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been used
in preparation of this volume.
