 Nariman Imranov was born on January 2nd, 1944 in Shishgaya village of Basar-kechar (nowadays located in Republic of Armenia). He studied at Azerbaijan Pedagogical institute between 1961 and 1969. In 1975, while he was First secretary of Komsomol in Nakhchivan AR, he was sent to higher school of KGB. After graduating, he worked in KGB and was appointed to the post of Deputy Chairman on October 4th, 1986. From 1988 till 1993, he held various posts in security services. He returned to Baku in March, 1993 and was appointed to the post of Minister of National Security on July 3rd, 1993. He received the rank of major-general on May 15th, 1994. Nariman Imranov was accused of treason and taken into custody on October 15th, 1994. Later he was pardoned by the president of Republic of Azerbaijan.
