	The Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a central executive authority which carries out the competencies referred to it by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of intelligence, counter-intelligence, protection of state secret, revealing, preventing, precluding and detection of crimes. The Ministry is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the decrees of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the decisions and decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the international treaties which the Republic of Azerbaijan the part, its statute and other normative-legal acts of the Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The official web-site of the Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan serves to bring information on the main activity directions of the ministry from the initial source to the local and world community.

Ceremony of presentation of the Colors to the Academy Named after Heydar Aliyev under the Ministry of National Security
The ceremony of presentation of the Colors to the Academy after Heydar Aliyev under the Ministry of National Security was held on 27 March. President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-In-Chief Ilham Aliyev attended the ceremony. After the President of Azerbaijan greeted the staff, the monument to great leader Heydar Aliyev was unveiled in front of the building of the Academy. On the same day, the “Glory” Museum of the Academy after Heydar Aliyev was inaugurated. Then, the Minister of National Security, general-lieutenant Eldar Mahmudov made statement.

THE HISTORY OF THE SECURITY BODIES OF AZERBAIJAN
The history of the security bodies of the Azerbaijan should be divided into three periods: the period of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, the Soviet period, and the period of the independence Azerbaijan. 1918-1920 years is one of the honorable, at the same time complicated and contentious period of the history of Azerbaijan. Since relevant period of the history of Azerbaijan has not been researched in the soviet period, the history of the special services remained out of investigation as well.

ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJAN, NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT
0n 25-26 February, Armenian military forces supported by the 366th Russian regiment deployed in Khankendi have attacked to Khojali city and committed an act of genocide against the civilian Azerbaijani population. The Armenian army brutally killed 613 people (among them, 63 children, 106 women, 70 elders); 487 people were wounded (including 76 children); 1275 persons were taken as hostages; 150 people are still missing.
