National security minister meets Qatar`s director general of public security

National Security Minister of Azerbaijan Eldar Mahmudov met Monday with Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security of Qatar who is here to attend a Conference of the Heads of Law Enforcement Agencies of the OIC Member States.

Eldar Mahmudov briefed Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi on the work the Ministry has done so far to apprehend transnational organized criminal groups which are linked to international terrorist networks. The Minister also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and its grave consequences as well as measures to fight against illegal migration, illegal drugs turnover and other issues.

Mahmudov stressed the necessity for information and experience exchange between relevant bodies of Azerbaijan and Qatar as well as strengthening cooperation to meet the two countries` security interests.

Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi thanked Eldar Mahmudov for the warm welcome and detailed information. He noted such kind of meetings will contribute to fighting against transnational crime and international terrorism as well as outlining prospects for cooperation between the two countries` relevant structures. Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi expressed satisfaction with the current state of Azerbaijan-Qatar relationship. He expressed confidence that friendly and co-operative relations between the two countries would continue to enhance. Qatar`s ambassador to Azerbaijan Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad bin Jassem Al-Thani was present in the meeting.
