Detection and prevention of the crimes connected with illegal migration and human trafficking has special importance in combating transnational organized crime. Possibility of falling victims of mentioned crimes under the influence of terrorists and using them as the tool in such kinds of activities is not excluded. Besides that, there are facts about use of illegal migrants in human trafficking, illegal arm trade and drug trafficking on a basis of their dependence. On the basis of the facts collected by the Ministry of National Security and sent to the prosecutors’ offices and the Ministry of Interior Affairs, 18 criminal prosecutions were launched during 2004-2006 years.

In 2007 as a result of operatively actions on prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking 4 criminal cases (2-si qeyri-leqal miqrasiya və 2-si insan alveri) were started and appropriate materials were submitted to the responsible state bodies.

Materials in connection with the crimes on illegal migration in the first half of 2008 were sent to the responsible state body and criminal case was launched in this regard.
